Wine

The color is deep ruby red, which acquires violet hues after aging. It has a rich and personal aroma with elegant fruity notes. A fine, particular and extremely complex bouquet appears after aging. When it is not aged, Tazzelenghe has a tough and rugged taste, while after a long period of aging in wood its flavor softens, offering a wide and velvety bouquet.

Historical Background

Friulian vine, whose area of production remains restricted to this region and especially to the hills of Buttrio Manzano, Rosazzo and Cividale del Friuli. This vine, along with Pignolo and Schioppettino, was saved from certain loss by EEC regulation in 1978, that included these vines among those authorized in the province of Udine. The name derived from the local dialect ‘tacelenghe', that literally means "cut tongue", due to its characteristic high acidity and early tannin, which mitigate after a few years of aging reaching the perfect aromatic balance.
